Loved it, but I was pretty tired. I've run cross country; the biking version has a lot in common with it except that it's way more fun! I'm so pumped now to train and get faster. Spinning classes, road biking, workouts; I found a new passion.

Re: Do you race?

Last February we organized the first ever amateur mtb race in Egypt (race website here http://mtbegypt.com/wdmtbc2.... We only had about 32 racers, but it's a start! Like you said, it's a great way to get riders together for such an event and enjoy the community atmosphere of cycling.

P.S. Loving the new website design and the great articles. Keep it up!

Re: Do you race?

I too, love the adrenaline that you get when you are hammering up a hill or swooshing the downhill. I however, like the endurance 12 hour solo and 2 person co-ed teams. I also love the 40k roadie time trials but your survey wouldn't let me vote for both mtn. and road bike races :)

Re: Do you race?

Every time I enter a popular XC race I regret it. Too many roadies without skill tend to block the singletracks. I'm doing something a bit different in a few months though, a 4 day race, along a stretch of South African coast called the Wild Coast and the race is aptly named the Wild Ride. Only 100 two man teams take part, so it should be a lot less congested and a whole lot more fun.

Re: Do you race?

I used to race in Adventure Races but have since discovered the joy of 24 hour MTB races, nothing beats racing without sleep haha!

Re: Do you race?

I haven't raced in a few years, but I think I'm going to sign up for all the races I can in the 2010 TMBRA State Championship Series: http://www.tmbra.org/

Re: Do you race?

I have my first event coming up in 3 weeks - an 8 hour enduro as a team of three - and I'm really looking forward to it. One of the team has raced before (road and MTB) and whilst there's some trepidation this close to the event I'm still really looking forward to it.

If this one goes well we're be planning for a team entry into a 24 hr later in the year - everyone locally that enters tells me what fun events they are.

Re: Do you race?

@milliron

I was afraid this was going to happen...Millhouse is hooked!!

Re: Do you race?

I like doing group mountain bike rides but nothing compares to the adrenaline of lining up for a race and hammering it out for an hour and a half.

The endurance scene is pretty cool around here too. Got a good festival vibe to them.
